Hawker Tempest and Sea Fury

The Tempest advanced air warfare tactics and strategy by correcting the faults and improving the benefits of its predecessor, the Typhoon. It was the last of the Hawker Aircraft Company's land-based single-seat piston-engined fighters and proved an effective air combat fighter and ground attack platform. From it evolved the carrier-borne Sea Fury which served around the world for more than a decade
The roles played by these aircraft in military aviation advancement is clearly and carefully explained by the author who demonstrates how a weapons system which was to prove effective in pursuing Luftwaffe forces across European skies was added to the successful airframe and efficient powerplant.
