Jane's All The World's Airships 1909

This is a facsimile reprint of the first edition ever issued of Jane's All the World's Airships, Later renamed Jane's All the World's Aircraft. The first edition has an obvious interest for historians, and vividly portrays the transition period when aircraft were ceasing to be toys and becoming working machines. As indicated by the title, however, the emphasis was still on the airship, whose development still had some way to go.
For this first issue Fred Jane lacked many pictures that he wanted, and here and there he made incorrect surmises; but the work gives a unique view of the stage reached by air travel, for peace or war, at the end of its first decade.


Published by David and Charles (Facsimile Reprint) 1969 374pp illustrated. 32x22 landscape, end papers creased, otherwise good. D/J covered in clear plastic and stuck to inner boards, closed tear at bottom of spine.
