{detailed description}The first edition of this book attracted world-wide interest and approval from aerodynamicists, model flying enthusiasts and people concerned with low-speed flight and man-carrying machines. The author has now revised and enlarged the original edition, and has added results of recent research and coverage of fresh areas of interest which have come to the fore since original publication.
The book presents standard aerodynamic theory, as applied to model flight, in a concise and practical form for those enthusiasts who appreciate that a better understanding of model behaviour is a sure path to greater success and enjoyment, whether the models are flown purely for fun or in competition.
Martin Simons' interest in models goes back some fifty years. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Education at the University of Adelaide, where he pursues his other major interest, gliding; he holds the international Gold C with two diamonds and spends some of his time editing the magazine Australian Gliding, flying his own high-performance sailplane and also flying radio-controlled gliders.
