The Other Battle

Ref: 4159

Price: £11.50

The early stages of World War II saw disastrous losses incurred by Bomber Command during its daylight bombing raids. Although committed to a force of heavy bombers. the crafts of navigation and bombing had been neglected in pre-war years, so that when battle commenced, Bomber Command was not in a position to strike at targets in Germany. The Luftwaffe was also unprepared for the night offensive that ensued and rapidly developed new aircraft systems with which to defend its airspace.
This book traces the parallel development of night bombing within the RAF and that of the Luftwaffe's Night Fighter Force, culminating in the strategic bombing offensive and the German aerial defence against that offensive. It encompasses the historical, strategic, tactical and technical aspects of the subject, and contains a large amount of material based on personal experience.
