The Royal Air Force in Pictures

Price: £13.50

THIS book is compiled to serve two separate purposes : first to provide pictures and second to provide information about Royal Air Force aeroplanes and training.
The whole country has now some interest in these aircraft and large numbers of people are engaged on work which demands that they shall be able to recognise them by sight. It is not only, therefore, because of the natural desire which the public evinces to look at the remarkable machines with which the Royal Air Force fights so courageously against the enemy that this second edition of the " Royal Air Force in Pictures " has been issued, but also because it serves the practical purpose in aiding in the training of many men in the identification of these machines.
In some sense it is a tribute to the skill and courage of the officers and men of the flying service that so many desire to look at the aircraft they use and to get to know them. Great Britain depends for her future existence as much upon the Royal Air Force as upon any of the fighting services. That knowledge has been borne in upon vast numbers of people, and they react to it by seeking to learn about aircraft and training.
There, then, is the two-fold purpose this volume is designed to serve : to stimulate interest and just admiration of the men who fight and fly, and to spread knowledge and information about their aircraft throughout the country.
Major Oliver Stewart, who edits the book, is known as an authority on aviation and air war. He himself fought and flew in the war of 1914-18, and he is now editor of " Aeronautics," and a regular broadcaster on air affairs. He is qualified to guide the reader towards an understanding of the work and weapons of the Royal Air Force.
