{detailed description}The squadrons of the Royal Air Force have been the instruments of British Air Power since the original five squadrons were formed in 1912. Covering a wide variety of roles, equipment and deployment in the past, many remain to this day the operational units of the Royal Air Force. Some were formed during two World Wars and later disbanded but others have maintained a continuity of tradition for over sixty years.
The purpose of this volume is to present each squadron's history and detail movements and equipment, for the first time giving precise dates to enable historians to identify the location, role and aircraft of all Royal Air Force squadrons on any required date.
Twenty years of research in official records by the author have produced a book that no student of modern history can be without.
