The Rise and Fall of the German Air Force 1933-45

Price: £16.00

The Rise and Fall of the German Air Force 1933-45 brings you an original volume produced by the Air Ministry in 1948 in an effort to relate the operational history of the German Air Force during the Second World War.
This official illustrated history of the Luftwaffe during Hitler's Third Reich was written by the men and women who conducted the intelligence attack against the German Air Force during the war years. Their accounts are based on reliable contemporary German documents that were either captured during the war or subsequently recovered from the Luftwaffe's archive.

Main features are:
Pre-War Policy and Preparations
The German Air Force on the Offensive
The Turn of the Tide (1943-1944)
Decline and Fall of the German Air Force

As well as crediting the successes of the German Air Force the volume discusses how Hitler's obstinacy and Goering's incompetence, together with the German Supreme Command's inability-to recognize the necessity for air supremacy, contributed to the Luftwaffe's ultimate failure.

Published by The Public Record Office 2001 (reprint of 1948 1st) 422pp illustrated, index, appendices. 16x24 mint, including d/j.
