{detailed description}Continuing the record of British fighters of 1914-18 that started in Volume 1 of this series, this second volume provides detailed histories of all known fighting aircraft from the Robey-Peters Scouts to the Sopwith 2F.1 Camel. The remaining British fighter types are dealt with in Volume 3.
Here, in greater detail than ever before published, are the histories of the many aircraft of the Royal Aircraft Factory that were intended for or employed, however inappropriately, on fighting duties; and a substantial start is made on the great family of Sopwiths.
Several of the histories reflect the findings of fresh research and alter substantially the widely-held but erroneous beliefs about the aircraft concerned. Many of the photographs have never been published until now, and many of the general-arrangement drawings are of aircraft never before thus depicted. Like its predecessor, this book is an essential tool to the historian, aircraft devotee, modeller and collector.
