{detailed description}This story relates the activities of No. 67 Fighter Squadron RAF during the three and a half years that the author served with it in the Far East and Burma. The Squadron had the distinction of being the only fighter squadron stationed in Burma when hostilities with Japan commenced. The author served as an aero engine fitter on 67 Squadron and the novel feature of this book is the description of life on a fighter squadron at war as seen through the eyes of the man on the ground.
J. Helsdon Thomas was born in Malvern, Worcestershire, and educated at Worcester Technical College and Hatfield Polytechnic. He served in the Royal Air Force from 1938 to 1946 and was employed by British Aerospace at Hatfield for thirty years as a mechanical design engineer.
