{detailed description}The 504, Lancaster and Vulcan have made the name of Avro so famous throughout the world that their many other products tend to be overlooked. It is in the hope of placing these designs in their true perspective that this compact volume has been produced. Every effort has been made to write a lucid account of each aircraft, with at least one photograph of each type. The book contains over 220 photographs, a large number of which are treasures from private collections, and many have never been published before. In addition, an Appendix lists, for the first time, details of the Avro Type Numbers allocated to aircraft at the project stage. This system. commenced with the Type 500 in 1912 and ended with the Type 784 in 1963 when the company lost its separate identity within the Hawker Siddeley Group.
