This is the second edition of 'BRITISH GLIDERS', which appeared in its first edition in July 1970.
Our intention remains that of providing as complete a record as possible of gliders and sailplanes which are likely to be seen now, or which have been seen in years past, in the skies over Britain. In the past five years many new shapes have appeared on British gliding sites, regretably mostly originating from countries in Europe rather than from British design offices and factories.
The more common new designs have been illustrated in our additional photographic coverage, as have several interesting British 'one-off' types. The scarcity of general photographic coverage of sailplanes led us to republishing the photographs appearing in the first edition, and we hope that readers will forgive this repetition.
