{detailed description}This second volume of Carrier Operations of World War II describes the activities and operations of the United States Navy and Imperial Japanese Navy carriers in the Pacific and Indian Oceans during the first 15 months of World War II—from the attack on Pearl Harbour until the Japanese withdrawal from Guadalcanal early in 1943.
Into this period fell the Battles of the Coral Sea, Midway, the Eastern Solomons and Santa Cruz. These were the most evenly matched carrier versus carrier battles in history.
The lucid narrative is superbly enhanced by 108 photographs.
