{detailed description}This Lincolnshire airfield was the wartime base of 57 and 630 Squadrons with Lancasters and later host to Lin-coins, Mosquitos and the USAAF with their SC-47s. It is now the home of the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage and the ex-Scampton gate guard Lancaster, forming a major local tourist interest. The author describes the development of the airfield, wartime operations and subsequent history, well supported by 75 b/w photos.
