{detailed description}Take Mary to the Pictures I Fighter Pilot in Burma 1911-1915
January 1942; a squadron of Hurricanes fly from Egypt to Rangoon to reinforce the defence of Burma; in 6 weeks they have been shot out of the sky and Burma has been overrun. There follows 31h years of fighting a ruthless enemy before Burma is re-gained and Japan surrenders. The author was there from the start and tells of the bravery and determination to fight back and win of those with whom he flew. No punches are pulled in making reference to those who endangered their colleagues with low standards of performance and leadership. Descriptions of the many types of operational missions flown, and the hazards faced by inexperienced pilots operating from jungle strips in monsoon weather with no navigation aids, adds colour to what is an authentic story of courage and adventure.
