{detailed description}During the desperate closing stages of the Second World War, the Germans brought into action several new aircraft types of which three were highly advanced: the jet- propelled Messerschmitt Me 262 Sturmvogel and Arado Ar 234 Blitz, and the rocket- powered Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet. Each of these novel aircraft was capable of performance greatly superior to anything on the Allied side but their operational debut was too late and too limited in scale to have any effect on the outcome of hostilities. Following lengthy interviews with several of the German pilots who flew these early jets in combat, the authors, both men of considerable flying experience, have made the first detailed analysis of the capabilities, tactics and combat careers of these aircraft. The resulting book GERMAN JETS IN COMBAT presents them in an entirely new light and one which will alter many long- held opinions. The work is illustrated by over 150 photographs, the majority of which are from private collections and have never previously been published.
