Published by Northants Libraries 1982 1st edition. 360pp profusely illustrated, index, bibliography. 22x29 very good, d/j slightly worn.

A thorough history of aviation in Northamptonshire, both military and civil. From ballooning in 1784 to the ICBMs of the cold war. Over 400 photographs, maps and plans. Airfield plans are accompanied by an aerial photograph, there are copious notes and lists of principal aircraft types operated in the county, crash sites, missions flown by the Eighth Air Force from bases such as Polebrook, King's Cliffe etc, and also notes on aircraft production and repair. An excellent work, now quite scarce.
